Market Challenge

Medgene Labs works with leading researchers and strategic partners in the fields of virology, bacteriology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics. Sources of market-aligned technology concepts include an expanding network of university researchers, regional producers, biotechnology companies, and contract research organizations. As an animal health diagnostics and therapeutic development company, Medgene Labs is developing unique products that solve current market challenges.

Pigs

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea

The Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) is a virus similar to transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE), and is a disease only affecting pigs. PEDV is transmitted via the fecal-oral route and may appear to be the same as TGE, with acute diarrhea within 12 to 36 hours of onset. Over 8 million pigs have been lost in the United States, with much higher numbers in Europe, China, Korea, and Japan.

Cattle

Rift Valley Fever

Rift Valley Fever (RVF) is an acute, fever-causing viral disease most commonly observed in domesticated animals (such as cattle, sheep and goats), with the ability to infect and cause illness in humans. The disease is cause by the RVFvirus and is generally found in regions of eastern and southern Africa where sheep and cattle are raised, but the virus exists in most of sub-Saharan Africa, including west Africa and Madagascar.

Medgene Labs currently has exclusively licensed vaccine technologies for Rift Valley Fever from the Department of Homeland Security's Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Diseases.

Scientist

Meeting An Unmet Need

While the global animal vaccine market is an $8 billion industry, most of that is driven by the pet industry. Food producers and government agencies are expressing the dire need for new product development for emerging diseases in food animals. The big companies aren't doing it. The small companies are inefficient.

Which leaves the door wide open for Medgene Labs.

High profile diseases are making media headlines around the world and the increase in global disease transmission makes the timing right for Medgene Labs to produce, market and distribute products focused on emerging food animal diseases.

Public fear of diseases like Rift Valley Fever, Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea and West Nile make the development of vaccines for these diseases not only important to the world, but lucrative to investors as well.
